At Tamis Functional Pilates, Amanda designs individual programs using traditional Pilates equipment to achieve maximal functional movements. In order for the body to function optimally, the CORE, the entire spine and pelvis must be aligned. Focusing on the core, Amanda uses the Pilates system to create a balanced and efficient body. When muscles are properly developed, movement can be performed with a lot less effort! Amanda looks at each body and finds the most direct way to address it. Amanda graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She spent most of the 90's as a personal trainer, teaching Reebok step and slide classes while managing the Santa Barbara Athletic Club's aerobic department. After moving to Miami Amanda graduated from Polestar Pilates in South Miami in the Studio and Rehabilitation program. Amanda has also worked with Dr. Jonathan Hyde at the South Florida Spine Institute. There, she helped create programs and taught Pilates to both surgical and nonsurgical patients. Amanda started her own business within U-Fit Health and Performance in 2012. She is married to Mark Tamis (25 years!), and has three teenage athletes, Bella, Harry and Ricky. Her goal is to get you to MOVE! We are all designed to squat, lunge, push, pull, twist, bend and run. Amanda can help you achieve your goals! As Joseph said, "We are as young as our spinal column!" Amanda is thrilled to be part of the S.H.I.F.T. family
